About us
Klaas builds powerful aluminium cranes and aerial work platforms for effective material transport and safe access to heights
Theodor Klaas founded his construction company in 1933, which over the course of time has become an internationally active mechanical engineering company. Our products: innovative mobile and trailer cranes with aluminium jibs, inclined lifts and aerial work platforms. These practical devices make it easier for roofers, carpenters and façade builders to transport heavy building materials and make working at height comfortable and safe. New additions to the product portfolio are mini cranes from the Japanese manufacturer and market leader Maeda, for which Klaas has taken over both sales and service in Germany.
The former one-man business has now grown into a medium-sized family company with almost 400 employees. Klaas produces most of the components for its appliances itself in modern production halls in order to fulfil the high quality requirements. To date, over 7,000 trailer and truck-mounted cranes have left the factory in Ascheberg, Münsterland - making Klaas cranes the best-selling aluminium cranes in the world. Ten branches throughout Germany offer a comprehensive hire, repair and maintenance service.
The trademark of Klaas cranes is the striking jib, in which all elements are made of 100% high-quality aluminium. Thanks to a massive folding jib and a variable outrigger system, they can achieve enormous performance values. For example, the lateral outreach of the largest Klaas crane, the K1100, is 45 metres (with a weight of 500 kg). The new K2300 can lift up to 4.5 tonnes thanks to its extraordinarily powerful hoist winch, and can even unload or move 9 tonnes when equipped with a load extension. With its outstanding lateral outreach - especially in the weight range up to 3,000 kg - the K2300 is the most powerful aluminium crane currently on the market.
In recent years, the topic of environmentally friendly and sustainable working has become increasingly important at Klaas: almost all crane types can now be operated electrically, and two trailer cranes and the K700 E mobile crane even operate completely without electricity using a battery-powered electric motor.
