Our story
SawStop is more than a company, it is a promise made over twenty years ago to every woodworker. The story began in 1999 when Dr. Steve Gass a lawyer, Doctor of Physics and passionate hobby woodworker had an idea that would change woodworking safety forever. He imagined a table saw capable of sensing danger and stopping before it could cause harm.
His vision became reality in 2000 and has since saved thousands of fingers. What started as an experiment quickly grew into a movement for safety and innovation. The company’s groundbreaking Active Injury Mitigation (AIM) technology detects contact with skin and stops the spinning blade in less than five milliseconds. What could have been a devastating injury becomes only a minor scratch.
This development came with a mission to protect people working with wood from serious injuries, that’s why all our table saws combine precision, performance and state-of-the-art safety technology. We want to enable craftsmen and DIY enthusiasts to use their skills without fear of accidents while empowering them to work with greater confidence, efficiency, and peace of mind in their everyday work.
Every SawStop product undergoes multiple inspections and performance tests to ensure it meets strict safety and quality standards before reaching customers. The company’s commitment to excellence ensures that each saw delivers reliability and flawless operation from day one.
SawStop has never lost sight of its mission. Today, the company is not only saving fingers in the United States but also across Europe to protect woodworkers from injuries and to shape a safer future for woodworking.
