MEGANT®S for extreme force transmission

The articulated MEGANT® S is designed for structures demanding an exceptional force transmission capability of up to 950 kN. The construction, mindful of the building's integrity, permits the deflection of the secondary beam, mitigating stress in the adjacent structural elements.

MEGANT®S – Flexible Connector for High-Intensity Force Transmission

Introducing the newest addition to the Megant family: the Megant S, a versatile connector designed for structures demanding an exceptional force transmission of up to 950 kN. This connector features a construction that prioritizes the integrity of the building, allowing controlled deflection of the secondary beam and preventing stress in the connected components. Available in four sizes, the Megant S is suitable for a range of applications, including wood-to-wood, wood-to-steel, and wood-to-concrete connections.

MEGANT® – Connectors for Timber and Hybrid Construction

MEGANT enables the realization of wood, steel, and concrete connections with a design load capacity of up to 340 kN (custom solutions up to 768 kN load capacity). The connector is torsionally rigid and can transmit high lateral forces, as well as restraint and tilting moments of the secondary beam. This makes it particularly suitable for connecting tall, slender glued laminated timber beams with large spans, a necessity in applications such as sports facilities, industrial or warehouse halls, and multi-story timber skeleton structures where high lateral forces need to be transferred.

For use in hybrid constructions, MEGANT can be supplemented with a steel plate for attachment to concrete. Three installation variants are available.

  1. The leveled anchor plate is secured to the concrete structure using epoxy-anchored threaded rods or Fischer high-performance concrete anchors. The MEGANT connector plate is then fastened to the anchor plate with M8x30 or M10x30 countersunk screws.

  2. The Peikko SBKL anchor plate can be embedded flush with the surface during concrete pouring.

  3. Alternatively, the anchor plate can be anchored using the Halfen HSC-B steel structure connection according to approval Z-1.8-1974. The Halfen SK screws are embedded flush with the surface.

If MEGANT needs to be leveled for the concrete connection on-site, a supplementary steel plate with the same dimensions as MEGANT (width x height) must be welded to the anchor plate. MEGANT is then secured to the supplementary steel plate using M8x30/M10x30 countersunk screws.
