STEICO building system - ideal for serial refurbishment

Serial renovation is promoted by the "Bundesförderung für effiziente Gebäude" (BEG) with an extra contribution of 15 % of the construction costs. This refers to the optimisation of the construction process through the use of large-format facade and roof elements.

The "Bundesförderung für effiziente Gebäude“  (BEG) awards a lucrative bonus of 15 % of the building costs for energy modernisation if it is carried out "serially". This refers to the optimisation of the construction process through the use of large-format, prefabricated façade and roof elements. But the elements themselves can also be optimised: through the use of STEICO LVL laminated veneer lumber and STEICOjoist.

Advantages of serial renovation

  • Higher precision and quality
  • Shorter construction time
  • Less stress for residents and neighbours
  • Higher economic efficiency
  • Lucrative subsidies

Advantages of the STEICO building system

  • Less wood consumption
  • Lower weight
  • Higher dimensional stability and load-bearing capacity due to laminated veneer lumber
  • Better energy efficiency due to web beams
  • Even greater cost-effectiveness
  • Perfectly matched structural products and insulation materials from a single source
  • STEICO building system optimises serial renovation

Serial refurbishment with prefabricated timber frame construction elements offers several advantages over a purely on-site method. Especially for larger projects, this method is much faster and more economical. In the last two decades it has been perfected. And in the meantime it has established itself in the timber construction industry.

STEICO LVL and STEICOjoist: less material, more performance

Laminated veneer lumber STEICO LVL is more dimensional stable and compression resistant than solid wood C24 and laminated wood. Due to its slender shape, STEICOjoist is more material-efficient than solid wood. The higher the STEICOjoist is, the more material is saved compared to the rectangular cross-section. This is because its height is defined solely by the web. This makes it possible to achieve very good U-values economically. Especially since the slim web greatly reduces the constructive thermal bridge. Each product is used where it makes the most sense: STEICOjoist in the standard areas, STEICO LVL in higher-load areas and the edge areas, STEICO GLVL in high-load areas.

Germany wants to promote serial renovation with 15 % extra subsidy

In order to achieve Germany's climate targets, the number of energy-efficient renovations do have to multiply in the next few years. And this facing an increasing shortage of craftsmen. That is why new, faster methods are needed. For this reason, serial renovation has been strongly promoted since 2023. For modern timber construction, this opens up an interesting business field. The use of timber frame construction elements is above all when they can be produced in large numbers. Or if the refurbishment has to be carried out during "ongoing operations" or within tight time frames.
